How to use DartPick

Pin names or pictures to a dartboard, throw a dart, and let it pick one.

Add names

Type your names into the box, one per line, then press Add — or press Ctrl + Enter (⌘ + Enter on a Mac). Each name becomes a sticky note pinned to the board. Long names are shortened on the note but shown in full when they’re picked. A board holds up to 50 entries in total, names and pictures together.

Add pictures

Press Add pictures and choose one or more images from your device. DartPick shrinks each picture so it takes up little space, and uses the file name as its caption. Pictures are stored on your device only, just like names.

Move notes around

Drag any note to wherever you like. Notes always stay inside the board’s scoring area, and a note you drop onto another one sits on top of it. Your arrangement is remembered, even after you close the app. Press Shuffle to scatter every note back into a neat automatic layout.

Throw the dart

Press Throw dart. Every entry has exactly the same chance of being picked — the winner is chosen before the dart even leaves your hand, so it doesn’t matter where a note sits, how big it is, or whether another note covers it. When the dart lands, the result pops up:

Sound

Each throw plays a whoosh and a thunk. Press Mute to turn them off; DartPick remembers your choice.

Install it as an app

Once you’ve opened DartPick, it keeps working without an internet connection.

Your data

Open Your data at the bottom of the panel to download a file with everything you’ve added, or to delete it all from this device in one go.

Using a keyboard

Press Tab to move between buttons and Enter or Space to press them. Esc closes the result.
